Autonomous Cleaning Robots, Deployed in Real Buildings

Eco Drift deploys autonomous cleaning cobots in commercial buildings. These robots handle vacuuming and scrubbing in high-footfall areas, freeing our Curators of Clean Spaces for the detail work that requires human judgment.

Efficiency from technology, not from cutting corners.

At one of our large office sites, deploying autonomous robotic cleaners has enabled approximately 10% savings on the contract's labour cost.

We pass that saving to the client.

No team member's pay was reduced. No hours were cut. The saving comes from efficiency - from a robot handling repetitive, high-footfall area cleaning so that our Curators of Clean Spaces can focus on the detailed work that requires human judgment, skill, and care.

This is the distinction between technology that replaces people and technology that works alongside them. Eco Drift deploys cobots as a complement to our team, not a substitute for them.

How the saving works
Cobot handles High-footfall corridor vacuuming and scrubbing. Repetitive, measurable, consistent.
Team Leader focuses Detail work, washrooms, kitchens, glass, touch points. Work that needs human judgment.
~10% labour saving Passed directly to the client. Not retained as margin. No team member's pay reduced.

From site survey to live deployment.

Every deployment starts with a site assessment. Cobots are mapped to your building's specific layout before going live. Nothing is switched on and hoped for.

01

Site mapping

We assess your building's layout, floor types, traffic patterns, and cleaning requirements. High-footfall corridors and open areas are identified as cobot-suitable zones.

02

Route programming

The cobot's cleaning route is programmed to match the specific dimensions and layout of your building. Obstacles, doorways, and restricted areas are mapped in advance.

03

Live deployment

The cobot operates autonomously during cleaning sessions, handling its designated areas while the Curator of Clean Spaces works in parallel on detail tasks elsewhere.

04

Session logged

Every session is logged via Shiftomate: areas cleaned, time taken, coverage maps. Included in your monthly performance report alongside all human-completed tasks.

Every session logged. Every area mapped.

Every cobotic cleaning session is logged in Shiftomate: areas cleaned, time taken, and a coverage map showing exactly where the robot operated. This is included in your monthly performance report alongside all manually completed tasks.

This is not a black box. If a question arises about whether an area was cleaned, the data is there. The timestamp, the coverage map, the session duration - all of it, in your client dashboard.

Monthly auto-generated reports include cobot sessions, task completion rates, and coverage data.

Solent FutureScape · March 2026

The only commercial cleaning company in the room.

In March 2026, Eco Drift exhibited at Solent FutureScape, the South of England's inaugural AI and technology conference. We ran a live robot demonstration and presented Proximetrix to a room of 200+ businesses, technology leaders, and public sector organisations.

We were the only commercial cleaning company in the room.

The conference brought together Portsmouth City Council, the NHS, University of Portsmouth, technology startups, and AI researchers. Eco Drift was there not as a cleaning company that had added a gadget, but as a technology business that happens to operate in the cleaning sector.

The large robot at FutureScape (Titan) belonged to Dr John Flackett. Eco Drift's robot was the smaller autonomous unit. Both were live on the floor.

Human judgment

Technology that works alongside our team. Not instead of them.

Our team members are not called cleaners. They are Curators of Clean Spaces. That title reflects what we actually expect of them: professional judgment, pride in the environment they maintain, and skills that a robot cannot replicate.

Cobots do not replace that. They handle the work that does not require it, large, repetitive, measurable routes, so that our Curators can concentrate on the work that does.

The result is a higher standard overall, not a reduced headcount at reduced pay. The saving from cobot efficiency is passed to the client. Our team's Real Living Wage of £13.45 per hour is unchanged.

Interested in cobot deployment at your site?

Not every building is suited to autonomous deployment - it depends on layout, floor type, and contract structure. Book a free session and we will assess whether cobots would deliver a genuine benefit at your site.
